Peracto SA changes name to AgXtra, launches new brand and website

6 October 2016

Leading South Australian agricultural research company Peracto SA has been rebranded as AgXtra, reflecting a new strategic direction and plans for regional expansion.

While the company’s name has changed, it will continue to provide research and development services to clients in the broadacre and horticultural industries, focusing on a range of crops, pests, diseases and agronomic practices.

AgXtra Managing Director Richard Porter says the company he originally started in 2002 had undergone a period of significant growth in the past five years and it was appropriate for the AgXtra team to step out in a new direction and with a new corporate identity.

“The business was initiated in 2002, and has operated under the Peracto SA name since 2007,” Mr Porter said.
“Initially operating as a small, sole-trader business, we were committed to helping our original client base with their applied research needs.

“We have grown and evolved to now be a medium-sized company, employing a total of 26 full-time and casual staff, servicing a more diverse range of clients and segments. We remain family-owned and incredibly passionate about helping our clients who invest in innovative practices for primary production.”

“We have a great team of skilled researchers, addressing a broad range of crops and challenges, such as variety evaluation, crop nutrition, crop protection evaluation, residue testing, and product registration.”

“We are also operating in regions beyond South Australia, with a current focus on New South Wales.”

AgXtra will continue to work closely with Tasmanian based company Peracto Pty Ltd, to address projects requiring a national approach.

“We have enjoyed our relationship with Peracto and the interaction we have with their national network,” Mr Porter said. “They have been an important partner over 13 years and have provided us with many opportunities, and we look forward to continuing a positive working relationship with them.”

Mr Porter says the company’s new tagline “research partners for crop innovation” is reflective of how the company values its client interactions and its collaborative approach to research work.

“We have a very strong focus on growing and developing relationships with our clients, growers and local communities that goes beyond the standard transaction of fee for service,” he said.

“It’s this strength in relationships which gives meaning to our team’s work and provides greater value from all perspectives. We form friendships beyond the professional relationship and, as a result, there’s a greater commitment to the work we do for them.”

“In the end, applied research is what we do. We love taking new innovation and new technology for crop production systems and testing it in the field.”
